Golf Courses in Germany
Three separate Kalos Golf cruises – the Danube River Golf Cruise, the Rhine River Golf Cruise, and the Baltic Sea Golf Cruise – visit superb golfing treasures of Germany, with their rosters of prestigious European courses including the following:
- Golf Club Am Habsberg in Nuremberg, Germany. Since opening in 2002, Golf Club am Habsberg has been recognized as one of the top courses in Europe, while at the same time remaining largely unknown and undiscovered. The Graham Marsh design features large greens surrounded by closely mown approach areas requiring players to contemplate their method of approach: chip, pitch or putt. A good sand game is a must in order to score well on this layout that has 87 bunkers.
- Brunnwies Golf Course in Passau, Germany. The peaceful hills and farmland of Bavaria provide an ideal setting for golf. Designed by Bernhard Langer, Brunnwies is one of six golf courses that comprise the Hartl Golf Resort. The setting exudes charm with a farm-style clubhouse serving a beer once brewed by monks from nearby Aldersbach Monastery.
- Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in Heidelberg, Germany. Golfers will take on the St. Leon course, featuring generous fairways along with well-protected and interesting green complexes. Good conditions add to the enjoyment of playing this well-designed golf course. St. Leon-Rot has served as the site for the European Tour's Deutsche Bank Open, where Tiger Woods won the tournament three times.
- Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof in Cologne, Germany. Germany's first and only course designed by Jack Nicklaus, Gut Lärchenhof has hosted numerous European PGA Tour events including the German Masters and the prestigious Mercedes Benz Championship. Fescue grass and an absence of trees give the course a links look. If the wind blows, Gut Lärchenhof can be a very stout test of golf.
- Berliner Golf & Country Club in Berlin, Germany. Native son Kurt Rossknecht crafted the Motzener See course, whose sporty layout has rolling fairways, well-shaped bunkers and well-placed water hazards where brains prevail over brawn.
- WINSTONlinks in Warnemünde, Germany. Recently named Germany's best new golf course, WINSTONlinks is designed to emulate the dunes landscapes of the Scottish coast. The 30-foot high dunes tower over the moraine landscape that is interspersed with broom, heather and natural sand pits.
